The life size hanging witch is a standing-height Halloween figure designed to be draped from a porch beam, doorframe, tree branch or stair newel so that she appears to be waiting for whoever opens the door. She stands 71 inches tall - about the height of an adult - which is what makes her work: from across a dark yard she reads as a person, and only when guests get close does she wake up, flash red eyes and start cackling. Care instructions:
- Spot clean the robe with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not machine wash and do not soak the head or the battery box.
- Take the batteries out before you store her, so nothing leaks over the season.
- Store flat in the box after Halloween. A cool iron on steam, held well away from the plush, lifts the fold lines out of the robe.
- Use her indoors or in a covered outdoor spot. Bring her in when it rains - the robe and the electronics are not waterproof.

Setting her up:

Step 1: Open the seam inside the robe, load 3 x AA batteries into the box and leave the switch on.
Step 2: Thread a hook or carabiner through the loop at the crown and hang her where people will walk past her, not where they can reach her.
Step 3: Fluff the wig, square the hat, and let the robe fall naturally. Walk past once to check the trigger sensitivity, then raise her a little higher if she wakes up too easily.
