The action is a pull-out pump: dip the nozzle end in the pool or a bucket, draw the handle out to fill the clear chamber, push it back and go. Water in, water out - no batteries, no motor, nothing to charge, and nothing that runs flat halfway through the afternoon.

Setting it up:

Step 1: Rinse the chamber out with fresh water before the first use - there is nothing to assemble and no batteries to fit.
Step 2: Put the nozzle end under the water and pull the handle out all the way. The clear chamber fills as the pump extends.
Step 3: Aim it away from faces and push the handle back in one firm stroke to fire. A quick, full stroke gives the widest fan; a slow one dribbles.
Step 4: Pull out and push again until the water runs short, then dip and recharge. At the end of the day tip it upside down and shake the water out.

Care instructions:

Rinse the inside and outside with fresh water after salt water, pool chemicals or beach sand, then shake it dry and leave it open in the shade. Standing water inside a closed barrel is where the smell starts.
Keep it out of the dishwasher and away from boiling water or a hot car dashboard, which can warp plastic parts like these. Wash the outside with a damp cloth.
If it starts losing pressure, swish clean water through the chamber and work the pump a few times - grit left in the barrel after a beach day is the usual cause. Store it dry indoors once the season is over.

Please note: Due to the difference in monitor and light effect, the actual color and size of the item may be slightly different from the visual image. Furthermore, please be noted this is a water toy graded by the maker for ages 3 and up, and only plain water goes in it. It throws spray at speed, so keep it off faces, windows and anything electrical, and expect the ground under it to go slippery.
