A fox cut flat out of steel in a low stalking pose, with a weathered rust color over the surface. Two spikes on the underside push into the ground, so it looks like it is crossing the border towards you.

It is the size of a garden ornament rather than a life size animal - it sits at grass level among plantings and reads from a foot path. Move it between the border, the pot and the lawn edge as the season changes.

Step 1: Push the two spikes into soft ground at the edge of a border or lawn, so the fox sits at grass level.
Step 2: If the ground is compacted, dig two narrow slots or water first, then firm the soil around the spikes.
Step 3: Angle it towards where you look at it from, since the silhouette only reads from the side.

Care instructions:

The surface is finished to look weathered; do not strip it back with a wire brush.
Lay it flat or stand it on its spikes in storage, so the silhouette does not bend.
Bring it in or move it under cover through hard frost if the ground heaves where you live.
