The torch head carries the fan, the light and the bubble cup, and it sits at the top of pole tubes that join into a wide lotus-shaped base. Assembled, the nozzle sits about 47 in off the ground, so the bubbles come out above the head of a child and drift down across the party instead of landing at their feet.

It runs on three AA batteries with no cable to trail anywhere, so it goes where the party is: lawn, patio, deck, balcony, or an indoor floor that can take a little damp. Outdoors you can stand it on its base or drop the spiked pole end straight into the grass.

What is in the box:
- 1 x bubble torch garden lamp, with the pole tubes, base, connecting straw and the instruction card, in the color you choose - batteries and bubble solution are not included

Setting it up:

Step 1: Open the battery hatch on the back of the torch head, fit three AA batteries the same way round and close the hatch.
Step 2: Pour bubble solution into the clear cup under the head until the intake at the bottom of it is covered. Do not fill it to the brim.
Step 3: Push the straw into the bottom of the cup and tighten the collar hand tight. A loose joint here is the usual reason a machine that looks fine throws nothing.
Step 4: Join the pole tubes with the connector sleeves, set the lamp on its base or spike the pointed pole into the lawn, and give the solution a minute to reach the wand before switching on.

Care instructions:

If the bubbles start sticking to the head instead of flying, switch it off straight away, turn the head upside down to shake it clear and wipe the nozzle with a towel before trying again.
Wipe the nozzle clean after every session. Dried solution is what glues the wand up next time, and falling battery power does the rest - put fresh cells in before a party rather than during one.
Empty and rinse the solution cup, let the head dry, and store the lamp indoors and out of hard sun between events. Wipe the housing with a damp cloth rather than hosing it down, because the fan, the light and the batteries live inside it.

Please note: Due to the difference in monitor and light effect, the actual color and size of the item may be slightly different from the visual image. Furthermore, please be noted the box holds the bubble torch with its pole tubes, base, connecting straw and instruction card only - 3 AA batteries and bubble solution are not supplied, though any ordinary bubble liquid works. Red and Blue are the same fixture in two housing colors and the garden, pool and party photos were shot with the blue lamp, so judge the color from the two cards at the top of the gallery. Bubbles land wet, so do not stand it on a path people have to walk or at the edge of a pool, keep it out of open ground where a stiff wind can tip it, and do not submerge or hose the head because the fan, light and battery compartment are inside it
