Setting it up:

Step 1: Plug the cable into the base first, then into whatever you are powering it from, so you know the light works before you decide where it lives.
Step 2: Choose the spot by eye at night: warm amber reads weakest against a white wall, so a shelf in a corner or a bedside table with a dark backing shows the glow better.
Step 3: Tuck the cable along the back of the furniture and leave enough slack at the plug that nothing pulls on the lamp itself.

Care instructions:

Dust the resin with a dry cloth - the molded book and the hat brim catch more dust than a smooth lamp does.
Keep it off a surface where a drink can spill into the cable joint, and unplug it before you move it.
Do not run it on a damaged or knicked cable, and do not bury the cable under a rug.
